The Campus Garden was established by a Service Learning class inspired by Growing Power, an urban farm that serves an area of Milwaukee considered to be a food desert. The mission of the Campus Garden is to communicate the importance of locally sourced food while teaching volunteers techniques for maintaining a garden without the use of synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. The Campus Garden produces over 2,000 pounds of produce each season which is either sold through their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program or donated to local food pantries.
Whitewater Community Garden
The Whitewater Community Gardens are located within the Whitewater Business Park near the Innovation Center off Innovation Drive. Volunteers manage the gardens. Limited plots are available early spring each year.
PoP Club - Whitewater Farmers Market
The PoP (Power of Produce) CLUB was started in 2018 by W3 and UW-Whitewater Sustainability. This program takes place at the Whitewater City Market during peak season times on Tuesday evenings. It is geared for kids ages 4-12 years and includes a weekly activity that focuses on nutrition and how our food grows. Kids receive a $3 coupon to spend on produce, seeds or whole plants sold at the market. A one time registration takes place onsite and kids are welcome to join anytime throughout the season. This program is not offered every season. Follow us on social media for more information.
