Liesl Schultz Hying joins W3 in a newly created position, Whitewater Garden Coordinator. Liesl established the Lincoln School Growing and Learning Garden in 2015 when she was an AmeriCorps Farm to School Service Member. Liesl continues to lead that garden and is also involved with the UWW Campus Garden and other garden projects in the area. A life-long outdoor and health-minded enthusiast, Liesl has been in a garden most of her life. Sharing that love of healthy foods and being outside with children has been a great reward with the school garden. Liesl has a degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood from Butler University. She taught for 10 years at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Preschool in Milwaukee and also was a women’s basketball coach at the D-I College level after her playing career came to an end. Liesl looks forward to growing the garden initiatives in Whitewater and getting more people connected to healthy foods!
